F.A.Q.S

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Q. Will you collect my new tiles?

A. Yes I can collect your tiles locally for a small charge but you will need to make sure they are paid for first, or I can supply your tiles for you, using my discounts, again tiles must be paid for in advance.

Q. Do you supply the tiles, adhesives, grouts, etc?

A. Most customers prefer to supply their own tilesand adhesives; However they may not purchase the correct amount or type, I can supply quality adhesives, tiles, grouts and other sundries at competitive prices. This is to ensure the correct products are used for a professional finish that lasts.

Q. I have several small jobs that need doing can you help?

A. Yes, I am willing to take on any job small or large.

Q. Is dot and dab fixing OK?

A. No! Believe it or not, there are tilers out there that call themselves "professional" who will dot and dab. This is not a practice of mine, never has, never will be. I like to do things properly. No shortcuts.

Q. Once fixed, how do I maintain tiles?

A. With proper care and attention, correctly installed good quality tiles should give many years trouble free service. Under normal circumstances they need little maintenance and are easily kept clean by wiping or mopping with warm water to which a neutral or nearly neutral detergent has been added. The cleaning solution should be allowed to stay on the surface for 5 to 10 minutes after which it should be removed by rinsing thoroughly with clean water. The most important point to remember is the rinsing process, which removes the dirt. Inadequate rinsing can lead to a build up of deposits, which will gather dirt, making your tiles dull and floor tiles slippery. Grit is the biggest enemy of any flooring material and a mat next to external doors is strongly recommended. Some terracotta, natural stone and slate tiles may need re-sealing.

Q. Can I use Porcelain or ceramic Tiles outside?
A. Unfortunately not for ceramic tiles. Ceramic tiles are only designed to be used indoors due to the tiles not being frost proof. On the other hand you can use porcelain tiles as they have the right ingredients to with stand the frost. Please see the Tile types page for more information.

Q. How do I work out how many tiles I need?

A. Please go to the Tile Estimator page.

Q. Are you insured?

A. Yes, I have full public liability cover.

Q. Do your estimates include VAT?

A. As a small business I am exempt from paying VAT.

Q. What method of payment do you accept?

A. I accept cash and cheques only. Sorry, no credit cards. Cheques should be made payable to Steven Atkinson. All cheques must have a valid cheque guarantee number on the reverse, amounts over your card limit will require multiple cheque issues up to the value of your card.

Q. When do I have to pay?

A. For small jobs payment is required on the last day of the job. For larger jobs including the purchase of tiles, payment for the tile purchase is requested upfront. In all occasions the client must either provide materials which I will list or I can provide them providing payment for these materials is paid upfront. Clients are provided with receipt upon completion in all occasions.
